The Scenic Armory
series represents a new direction,
whereas in previous works, the source texts were central,
but here image and form are in the forefront. The photographs
in The Scenic Armory have been selected from my collection
of personal travel photos. Instead of drawing from stock or
pre-planned images, pictures taken while experiencing places
imbue the work with an honesty equal to narratives based on
real-life experiences.
This series, as sculpture, also marks a return to objects
which are made to be experienced in person, in real space,
rather than on
a computer or via projection.
